Internal recording devices such as the:

• Event Data Recorder,
• Sensory Diagnostic Module,
• Power Control Module that are located in most passenger vehicles,
• Electronic Control Modules which are located in most commercial motor vehicles provide an independent source of information surrounding the pre and post collision movements of a vehicle and the actions taken by the driver.

This information in most cases is very helpful in providing information regarding the collision but in itself does not provide for a complete stand alone analysis as to what actually occurred in a collision. The data must be corroborated with the physical evidence and be consistent with the dynamics of the collision and downloaded/opened with the most current software.
